Design Tips
Property buyers, along with kitchens, place great importance on the look of your bathroom.
Get it right and you will be offering an oasis of relaxation and rejuvenation, get it wrong and you're giving your prospective purchaser stress and additional costs. But you don't have to be selling your house to enjoy the benefits a new bathroom can give you. So we've compiled our top design tips for giving your tired bathroom a new lease of life.
Making the most of your space
If your bathroom is small, you can create the illusion of space with wall mounted basins or toilets pans. For long and narrow rooms consider corner sinks and baths to give a more airy feel.
Clean and refresh
You can give a new lease of life to even the most tired bathrooms with a thorough clean. Clean your shower head. Hard water deposits can clog the holes and reduce the showering capacity. Give the walls a fresh coat of paint with a new colour to update and revitalize the space.
Re-grout your tiles and invest in some fresh new towels that complement your colour scheme If in doubt go for white. Keep half used bottles out of site and keep your unused products in stylish bottles for display. If you've got a little more money to spend, replace your toilet seat, replace the old rug and update your taps. Even a new door handle can make all the difference. Keep things smelling fresh with good ventilation.
A scented candle or a tealight (unlit) with a few drop of fragrant oil and placed on the radiator will give off a gentle fragrance as the wax melts form the warmth. In summer, invest in good quality bath oils. Their smell will linger long after your bath has finished. Visit www.jacuzziforyou.co.uk and try our range of beautiful Italian made bath oils.
A well placed and healthy plant will always give a touch of the relaxing outdoors.
Colour schemes
It's always best to keep things neutral. A plain white bathroom suite and neutral tiles means that you can add splashes of colour with your towels and accessories. It also means that you can change your colour scheme as often as you like for little money.
Spend money only where you need to
Look at your bathroom suite. If it is in good condition why not just replace your tiles to match. If your tiles are fine just update the bathroom suite. If your bathroom is your main room of the house, think about the amount of use it gets and the quality of your fittings you might need. A guest en-suite or occasional shower room doesn't need the same quality products as your everyday bathroom.
Lighting
Think about your lighting. It needs to be flexible. Bright enough to shave in or put make up on but relaxing enough for that long soak in the bath. It must also be safe. Consider removing old blinds or curtains to let the natural light flood in. You can protect your privacy with a frosted spray effect, available from most DIY stores. Consider putting your lights on different switches so you can alter your lights for your mood or activity e.g shaving or putting on make up.
